Soft snowfallWe had our first snowfall yesterday that did not immediately melt. About 5 to 8 inches. I particularly liked the way it rested on the bare branches of the trees. See my photo below.Walnut tree on the left. Apple tree on the right, pine in the background, That is an Angry Birds ceramic in the foreground. Hope you like the photo. Wish I could teleport all the snow to the LA area to help put out all those Santa Ana fed fires!

2025 is a nice numberOr, at least, mathematically interesting.2025 is e.g. a perfect square, so we can write And since 45 can be written as the sum of 20 and 25, we also get But 45 is the sum of the single digits 1..9, so we also get
(1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9)2= 2025. Alternatively, grouping the single digits differently, we get And 2025 is also the product of two squares, since Not only that, 2025 is also the sum of three squares, since in Addition, But, if you prefer cubes to squares And 2025 is also perfectly divisible by the sum of its digits Summarising . . .
So a nice 2025 to all of my readers ! Comments (2)

Banging the BankWell, the new year started off with a Bang here, but not as anticipated. As I told you in August 2021, the bank branch in the neighbouring village was closed down and replaced by weekly visits from a mobile bank truck. The bank branch in the neighbouring village was replaced by a cash-dispenser in a building on the church corner. So some thieves saw an opportunity here. Cleverly they waited until the New Year celebrations when many folks were setting off fireworks (bangers etc). Then, at about 02:25 at night, they set off explosives to open the cash dispenser, making off with thousands of Euros. However a neighbour saw them running off with bags of cash and got their car number plate then called the police. They dumped that stolen car about 20 miles away, changing to their own car. Turns out, the police found the stolen car abandoned, quite quickly.
This morning I drove to the baker's shop just across the road from the scene of the crime but got diverted by the police at the church corner, because they were investigating the scene of the crime. So I took another route to the bakery, where I was told what had happened (bank robbery). Usually cash dispensers squirt dye into the notes when opened explosively, so they may have got dye on their hands too, when grabbing the cash. What an exciting start to the year in our sleepy villages! I wish you all a more peaceful 2025 ;-)

It is also one of the six known truncated triangular numbers, because 1 and 15 are triangular numbers as well. It is a hexagonal number, meaning that you can distribute 153 points evenly at the corners and along the sides of a hexagon. It is the smallest 3-narcissistic number. This means it?s the sum of the cubes of its digits. It is the sum of the first five positive factorials. Yup, this is a 153-type blog. QED ;-) Books I've written
